A group of survivors call themselves the White House Boys and five years ago called for an investigation into the graves. In 2010, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement ended an investigation and said it could not substantiate or refute claims that boys died at the hands of staff members. The University of South Florida later began its own research and discovered more graves than the state had identified.

Florida has won 24 consecutive season openers, the second-longest streak in the nation. It was over when: Florida freshman cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III , ESPN's No. 3-ranked prospect overall in the Class of 2013, stepped in front of a third-quarter Terrance Owens pass and returned the interception to the Toledo 23-yard line, which set up the Gators' offense for its third touchdown drive and a 24-6 lead. Game ball goes to: Florida junior running back Mack Brown might be the understudy to sophomore Matt Jones , who was out with a viral infection, but he carried the Gators' offense all day. Brown paced Florida in the first half with 97 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. He finished with 112 yards on 25 carries. Stat of the game: It might be unfair to highlight time of possession when Toledo runs an uptempo offense that likes to get up and down the field quickly, but with a 39:48-to-20:12 advantage on the time clock, Florida was able to control the game from start to finish.

Florida officials use Labrador retrievers to combat invasive snail species

"It is a very serious pest." Putnam said $6 million has been spent so far to eradicate the munching mollusks, which may have been introduced to Florida by a Miami Santeria group, a religion with West African and Caribbean roots that was found in 2012 to be using the snails in its rituals. The snails can carry a parasitic rat lungworm that can cause illness in humans, including http://wallinside.com/post-5038174-sex-tape-war-farrah-abraham-vs-myla-sinanaj.html a form of meningitis, although no such cases have been identified in the United States. JOE SKIPPER/REUTERS The snails can grow to eight inches long. To stamp out the snails, a team of 45 people regularly fans out across Miami, sometimes using rakes and getting down on their hands and knees to hunt for them. The snail fighters are also using bait, chemical treatments and experimental traps to root out the mollusks, helped by phone calls from local residents who report sightings. Joining them soon will be canine detectors, including a Labrador retriever being trained to sniff out the snails. RELATED: N.J.

Rick Scott and his Cabinet voted to allow the USF forensics team to exhume the bodies, against the objections of Jackson County commissioners . "There were children that disappeared that really were not accounted for, so I think that a new day has come here," said Wansley Walters, secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. "What we have now is an opportunity to really get down to the truth and also try to bring some healing to the victims and the families." Owen's story State records say one boy buried here is 14-year-old Owen Smith. Ovell Smith Krell says her brother Owen died under mysterious circumstances at the reform school. "He had no ambition to do anything but play music," said his sister Ovell Smith Krell, 84. She says her older brother ran away from home in 1940 at age 14 to become a musician in Nashville, but never made it.

Florida Gators? Valdez Showers makes immediate impact after switching to offense

If celebs they had called another field goal, I would have been ready to go out there and hit another one. Hardin also hit all three of his extra points and averaged 60.6 yards per kickoff. Overall, he felt good about his Florida debut. Theres gonna be misses, he said. It helps getting it out of the way. Now I know what its like to come back and be ready to go again. I feel good about it.
